Hello everyone!
I'm Lindsay and I'm in Delaware... Home of the blue chickens (lol)
I have 5 ducks as of now... Last week I had 4.... I have 2 year old male and female Khaki Campbells, a female Rouen and a female Cayuga/Pekin cross... And then last week, I went into the pen to feed the crew and this gorgeous little guy or girl was in there...
It is definitely the child of my male KC, Bob, and my Rouen, Lou.
There were others but did not make it - I think one hatched and was stepped on and the others fell victim to a crow I think .. one was undeveloped but the egg was broken open. Baby was alive but stomach was open. The others passed when we found them.
But this guy/gal is SUPER healthy. Plump, happy, running, wading, preening healthy little thing! I knew my Rouen and Cayuga went broody but I didn't really expect much, as they would try it previously and give up after a few hours... Especially my female KC.
They were adamant this time though
Baby is 7 days old today. I named him/her "Goose" .... Because it's a duck... Clearly
