Hello from Mother Flucker Farms – Back in the Chicken Game! 🐓

Hi everyone!

It’s been a few years since I was last in the chicken world, but I’m excited (and honestly a little emotional) to say I’m back at it again.

About 5 years ago, I had a small flock that I loved deeply — until a predator attack wiped out the entire coop in one heartbreaking night. It took the wind out of me, and I had to step away from raising birds for a while.

Fast forward to now — I’ve got 8 acres, a lot more time, and a whole new vision: building a real-deal homestead from the ground up. Chickens are the first step. Ducks and geese came next. And with a new, secure pen (and maybe an over-the-top coop in progress 😅), I’m starting fresh and bringing some fun with me. We’re calling it: Mother Flucker Farms. Yep — it’s going to be that kind of place!

Current Flock:
  • Chickens: Just getting started again, but excited to build a colorful, hardy mixed flock.
  • Ducks & Geese: Added to the mix for eggs, pest control, and personality.
Also planning to plant a few blueberry bushes in the run and create a little mini food forest the flock can enjoy (carefully protected from their destructive curiosity, of course 😆).

I’m here to learn, share, and connect with other chicken keepers who’ve been through the ups and downs. Looking forward to swapping stories, ideas, and maybe a few coop designs along the way.

Thanks for having me!

Where the birds are happy, and the farmer's a little unhinged (in the best way)

I was recently asked to change my profile image, and I want to sincerely apologize if my previous one — or the use of my old Scottish family name — caused any offense. It certainly wasn’t my intention.

Also, to anyone who was flustered by my use of the word “cockrel” (even without spelling it out fully), I do apologize for that as well.

In the spirit of community harmony, I’ve updated my avatar to something a little more warm and fuzzy — featuring a friendly, overall-wearing duck shepherd. I hope this new look brings smiles instead of squawks. 😄

God rest my Aunt Shirley Flucker, whom I proudly named the farm after — she would've found all of this quack-tastically amusing.

STILL SAME FARM.
