I am Pete, my 11 year old son decided he wants to raise chickens, so we are going to do this as a father son and rest of family bonding. We are very excited about finding or building a coop, as well as getting our first chickens. He says he would prefer to buy them already able to lay eggs, is this possible?

yes you can get them that already lay eggs, they usually are higher in price but not bad, and

yes you can get them already laying eggs but if you want them as pets i would get them as babys that way you can spend lots of time with them and tame them so they will allow you to pick them up and be good little birds = ]

Hi we are just north of you and yes you can buy already laying hens.

You can always check here, craigslist or a hatchery for chickens
and craigslist for materials/sheds/coops.....etc

Do research on what kind of chickens you would like.
We picked all brown egg layers, cold hearty and friendly.

Meyers Hatchery is located in Ohio, we ordered 30 chicks from them
and they are becoming beautiful young ladies.
If you call or sign up they will send you a catalog.

We started with 5 girls-all laying-given to us and in one year we have almost 40.
