Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster. I decided to make the jump to join after reading some EXTREMELY helpful advice here on how to make my newly adopted Rooster (Mr. Mister) respect me.
During the day I'm a professional industrial designer and painter, so naturally I geek out over coop builds and technical product details, as well as swoon over feather color and textures.
I've had chickens for about a year now, and I live on 5 acres in the Hudson Valley. My mixed flock consists of 2 Polish hens, 2 Easter Eggers, a bantam Buff Brahma, 3 Ameraucana hens, 1 Ameraucana roo, 2 Khaki Campbells hens and 1 Cayuga hen. I'm about 7 days into incubating my first set of eggs and I've been hooked!
I've been so grateful and quite frankly in awe at the generosity of this community. The wisdom-sharing is so admirable!
I thought I'd share some photos of the coop (before extending the run) in the woods, the girls enjoying the summer greenery, and my first candling photo ◡̈
