Hi everyone! :)

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got them in May 2024. These are my first chickens.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Five.

(3) What breeds do you have?
4 Buff Orpingtons and 1 mystery chicken that is not an Orpington. I don't know what kind she is!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I can go outside and pet them whenever I want. :) Well, most of them. One of them doesn't like pets... but that's okay, I can admire her from a distance.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Watching my chickens eat, watching my chickens walk, watching my chickens dig holes, watching my chickens sit in the holes, trying to figure out what to do with all the eggs they keep laying...

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a dog! He does not like the chickens.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I found it on Google! I'm not sure how long I've known about it, but the threads here continuously pop up in my Google searches. I wanted to join because I can't figure out what kind of chicken my mystery chicken is, or if she needs different care than the Orpingtons.

I'm excited to start exploring!

She doesn't like people and always runs away from me, so all my pictures are kinda blurry. I hope these are good. That's her size in relation to a golf ball. She's so much smaller than the other hens, I thought she was a baby but she hasn't grown any! She's definitely a female, she lays small white eggs. Or she did. She stopped laying a few months ago. I can add more pictures if needed, but I didn't want to spam.

Funny story, one of them snuck that golf ball back to their coop. Now she sits on it occasionally.
