I think if you are not planning to show your birds, you could cut back the crests and beards so polish AND silkies can actually see.
Whether this helps them in a mixed flock or not, it ups their chances of seeing predators and hiding. I don't know much about polish but silkies usually pile up in a corner on the floor and are very happy do so, rather than roosting. Given that trait, they won't get pecked off the roost. Once outside they usually can keep away from bullies, if they have enough room and places to hide.
