hey everyone! My name is Tyra! I have my first flock which consists of 2 buff orpingtons, 2 barred rocks, 2 Easter Eggers, 2 silkies, and 1 husky red! All these chicks will be 6 weeks old tomorrow!

I have four young children, a husband, and two crazy dogs!

At the moment I am feeling completely overwhelmed!

These chicks are still in my garage and I have no run!

I need suggestions please!

Tyra maybe your local Craig's list has some good offerings. Often dog kennel panels are offered cheaply or even free - can be the basis for a run. Also coops sometimes with chickens + feed included. People get them and then decide it's not for them & good by.

You can get a storage shed and trick it out with window and door and nest boxes & roosts and bingo you have a chicken coop.

Hi Tyra and welcome to BYC

On this link you'll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping birds - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

Welcome to Backyard Chickens Tyra!:frow Glad you joined the flock! Always having chicken wire on hand makes a coop really easy to create for your flock. If you have a big dog house, dog crate or anything else similar to that then just putting wire around it should make a great run and your flock will enjoy it!
