Welcome to BYC!!I am a newbie learning and have been raising chickens for 1-1/2 years and have two flocks integrated now from 1-day-old peeps straight from hatcheries. My second batch are now laying! I have 19 hens and 2 roosters. It has been an adventure from building the coop and run, to adding on a sick bay and an additional run area with a door that can serve as the jail for a bad rooster LOL. We get 9 to 15 eggs a day! They stopped laying and it was so cold, but I learned a trick from the web. Turn on the coop light until bedtime. They start laying again immediately! They need daylight (or the $8.99 LED bar light) to lay.
