Welcome to BYC. Personally I'd stick to hatchery birds. Its just too easy to pick up diseased ones from backyard sellers.

Hi! Lots of hatcheries ship chicks, and most local feed stores sell chicks as well. I'd recommend buying them from either of those places or hatching your own from a hatchery in terms of biosecurity, as others have mentioned, for your flock.
