Hi I have no been on here in a while but I just hatched some call ducklings a week ago. I had 3 of them and all had to have assisted hatching. One of them did not make it😭 the other two has seemed to be doing fine. I’ve let them kinda rest and not bothered them to much, to be honest I’ve kinda been scared to handle them after loosing one of them. I’ve been trying to give mashed peas for some added nician, have them on duckling starter and save a chick for electrolytes. I was getting their cage cleaned tonight and noticed the first one that hatched(which has seemed the strongest of them) has poop on their vent. I figured she probably got messy so I carefully wiped her but. Then again a little bit later I noticed her vent dirty again so I took some warm water and tried to clean as gentle as I could. But she seems very vocal and maybe stressed? I’m not sure. Please tell me if I should do anything? Should I put her in water? I don’t want to loose this baby. This is my first time with call ducks and it has been so stressful. I have a bunch of other types of ducks but this breed seems to be so fragile. Could this be pasty butt? That’s what google first brought me to and I’m so scared!

There's a Sav A chick with probiotics you could try. Probiotics in their water has helped my chicks when they've gotten that. Usually, pasty butt is caused from them being too hot. Is there plenty of room so they can get away from their heat source?

I'd keep doing what you're doing to soften it and remove it in the meantime. It could be sore though if she's being overly vocal about it. You might have to soak it in warm water for a while to get it all off and look. You could put a dab of vaseline on it to help it not have poop stick to it.
