I just went out to the run and found one of my d’Uccle chickens had blood around her face. I picked her up and realized her comb has been wounded. I didn’t see anything happen or hear anything. I have Vericyn plus spray. Will that work to help or do I need to get something else? Any advice will be appreciated.

Vetericyn wounds spray works well, as well as saline, and neither would hurt if they get into the eye. You can make normal saline at home or buy it at most pharmacies. Plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment are fine as well. Can you see if there is any damage to her eye, or is it just covered in the blood? Are the others pecking at her? I would watch close,y for bullying, and separate in a dog crate inside the coop if necessary.

I have seen some pecking but it’s more like move out of my way and not bullying. I haven’t seen anyone getting chased. Both eyes looked fine I think it’s just blood from the comb. I’ve also never noticed and comb pecking. It’s typically just a quick move out of my space peck. I hadn’t noticed any of that today. I’d tossed a bunch of veggies in the run and they were all going about eating them up. I’ll use the Vetericyn to clean it. Should I then put the antibiotic cream on afterwards?
