Hello, I’m very concerned about one of my chickens (a Buff Orpington, approximately 4 years old and need urgent quickly! This is usually a sign that they will die soon and I really want to do something now!
Symptoms:
1. Limping: I noticed she was limping earlier today and sitting down often. She avoids putting weight on her right leg.
2. Odd Sounds When Drinking: When she drinks, I hear a bubbling, whistling, or farting sound coming from her head, which apparently could mean respiratory infection? Or something else idk.
3. Watery and green Droppings: Her poop is watery but does not appear to have blood or mucus in it. It's also green (attached)
4. Behavior: She’s eating and drinking now (softened food and warm water), but she seems lethargic.
It has been below freezing here for the past week, so water access has been challenging.
- She lives with 2 other chickens in a coop with bedding and an open window.
- The other chickens appear healthy and are not showing any symptoms.
Steps Taken So Far:
1. Brought her into the garage to isolate her from the flock.
2. Provided her with warm water and soft, watered-down food, which she has been eating and drinking.
What should I treat her with?
Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer! I’m really worried and want to help her recover quickly.
