HELP! DIY auto coop door. what battery to use?

I want to put together a DIY coop door for my chicken coop. Think I found good plans and the parts that I need (hopefully) but I want it to just run off a battery no power going to it from a plug. What battery would I use for this????? Does anyone have this with out a solar panel or electric going to it? Hopefully someone can help me with what to order. TIA!

That is what I have so far. need to figure out what battery still. I know on the other post you asked about a safety so the chickens can't get stuck in the door what do you recommend for that?

Those parts will get you started. Unless you have a reason for a door that is 18 in tall you might consider a shorter actuator. Maybe 12 inches. That's not a big deal though if you're going to just use the built-in limit switches. A lot of people think a safety switch is overkill, and might be. I assume a chicken would get out of the way. One suggestion on the physical door.... instead of sandwiching a piece of wood in a wooden track, I picked up a set of drawer slides at Lowes. That way shavings or humidity don't affect the smooth operation of the door.
Any small 12 volt lawn tractor battery will work.

The down side to a clock trigger is as the days get longer, you have to adjust the clock.

Thanks. We are getting Brahma's and I know they are larger birds so that is why I went with the 18" door. the 12" seemed a bit low for them so was debating on 16 or 18. I don't mind adjusting the clock and figure I can set it for a bit after sunset and a bit before sunrise to give them time but the area it is in can get shady at times so didn't want to chance it not opening going just by the light.

I went with a 22.00 battery from Rural King. Not sure if you have one close by. Much bigger battery. I'd still put a solar charger on it.
