Help duck not walking!

How does her keel feel? Does it jut out from her body like a blade or it hard to feel?

Is there anything she could have ingested like bits of metal or wire, metallic candles, metallic wrapping or paint, paint chips of any kind?

Does she have any kind of discharge from her eyes or nose? Have you noticed sick or dead wildlife or birds in the area?

I think you should start tube feeding. Other than heavy metal poisoning, liver dysfunction, or certain infections and parasites bright green droppings are an indicator of anorexia, which means she hasn’t been eating for the last three days or more.

Okay yall I need some help! My female Pekin duck was found yesterday after noon sprawled out out side her coop in the snow. She will not stand and try’s to walk with her wings and her beak. She was shivering so I brought her inside as her feet and beak were ice cold. I have her on a warm towel on my floor with room temp water with electrolytes. I have offered her food but she refuses. She is drinking water tho. He poop is green and watery which tells me she hasn’t been eating. Do yall think that’s all it is is that she got cold? They do have a small coop with straw that is draft free but they prefer to be out in the snow. Their water is also on the out side of the fence so they have to reach through to drink. She acts like she is very sleepy, but has perked up some since yesterday. I have my other duck in the house to as it’s less then 10° out. The other duck is completely fine. I feed kalmbach duck and goose pellets if that info is needed. I also made a mash type food with her pellets water and Oregano in it. I would like to treat at home as it’s not plausible to spend 1000’s on a duck in vet bills!
My baby has passed! We are all devastated! She was from our first ever hatch and was so friendly! We will be looking for a new buddy for our other female duck!

I’m so so sorry! You did everything right trying to help her and I’m sorry it wasn’t enough. Considering she passed this quickly it says a lot and the truth is it means that there were probably limited options that could have saved her, if any. Rapid onset illnesses either have rapid recoveries or not at all. Her symptoms point to some sort of organ dysfunction, damage, or heavy metal poisoning, all of which are very difficult and lengthy to treat and often times they don’t recover from. This may be awful to hear but I hope you find some comfort in it, there probably wasn’t anything you could have done.
You made her comfortable and surrounded her with love and that’s the important part. Her soul is at peace and free to move on.

So sorry to hear this. She must of gotten ahold of something terrible it seems like. It's always so hard to say goodbye to them. I pray you can find a friend for your other one soon. Our Craigslist is still listing adult ducks every day so you might try that.
