okDid you lock her up for at least three days? It won't work if you don't, as far as I know. They need a complete break from each other. Ninja needs that much time, first to heal and second to gain confidence. Then when Lemon pecks her she will be able to stand up for herself. If you only separate them for a short time each day you are just wasting time and may as well not even bother.
If, after three days, she pecks again, even if she only does it one time, lock her up again. She has not learned her lesson. We had a bully hen and we had to do this three times before she finally stopped.
You have a responsibility as the owner to protect poor Ninja. If you can't or won't, then maybe you need to find a new home for one or the other chickens. It is not fair to let Ninja get pecked every day. Think how you would feel if your parents let your sibling hit you in the head every day with a sharp stick, several times a day. Oh, they don't do it as often as they used to so it's better now. No, it's not better. It's still happening. You need to make it stop.
You can't always be there with the squirt bottle.
I did 3 days then put them together ten min then lemon pecked ninja ran lemon went to chase but i grabbed her and put her away same next day and the day after she didn’t until the 30ish min ninja was calling all the time we have beachy neighbours they complained and lemon was pulling her feathers out so i put then back together@BigBlueHen53
Did it for 5 days made no difference kinda made it worse
Does she get grass and bugs? If the crop is the issue for sure I’d wonder if she’s getting grit like corn.Hi everyone
Yesterday I was in the backyard at about lunchtime and 1 of my 2 chickens Lemon was acting weird I knew Lemon was sick because within 15 min, she was normal to walking slower maybe 5 meters stand there for 3 min, and repeat. I think there was blood on her Cloaca I washed it off and tried to see what had caused it but could not see anything she is normally a very crazy chicken lol she runs around talks like crazy and annoys her non-biological sister eg. chasing her then running straight past her and pecking her very hard on the head so her sis squawks and runs away they are still very close friends. Sometimes Ninja runs and ducks from Lemon because she thinks Lemon will peck/hurt her. She will not go to bed by herself neither I have to put them to bed a different story. They will sit on the back of the chairs on the patio but Lemon just sat on the ground ( not enough energy to hop up) I was very worried by this point I put them to bed and checked on her multiple times throughout the night. Today I let them out Ninja ran around like normal and talking like normal.
Lemon is normally the first out of the coop but not today she just sat on the roost. I put her on the ground she stood up and walked under the hedge and stood there for 5 minutes before sitting for 2 min then walking maybe 2 meters stand there for 10 min and repeat. Her cloaca is looking fine but she is very quiet and not talking much Her crop feels full of liquid like sour crop but her breath does not stink and when I pick her up she rests her head on my arm and goes to sleep within 1 minute.
I do not want to lose her she is my life lol I will try nearly anything please help me and my girl.
Isolate the bird if it’s having problems, 1, to protect and recover 2, in case is contagious. I’ve never had this problem, but yeah, are you giving it any grit like the other replies said? Probiotics? Clean water? Green Grass?Hi everyone
