Yesterday morning we went to check on the flock and one of the hens was “sleeping” standing up. She was very lethargic and uninterested. After watching her and examining we thought she could be egg bound. We followed the steps with baths and calcium and made her an egg with the shell, etc. left her in the bathroom set up over night with a humidifier and made it warm for her but nothing.

Today she could barely stand and her eyes won’t stay open. I gave another warm bath and decided I had to try something. So I put lube on my gloved finger and felt around. A clear liquid came out of her with some white. So I did it again and felt a little further and pulled a little pebble out. I felt her tummy which is full and it felt gravely. I didn’t think it could be gravel but after the pebble it could be a bunch of these pebbles!!!! I can’t get them out they’re so far down there someone. Please help I’ve never had a situation like this.

So sorry to hear this. Hopefully someone will get on here to tell you what is best to do for her. I pray that she makes it.
Thank you so much, I’m so worried about her, I can actually feel the gravely texture inside her stomach but it’s so far in there, I have no idea how she can pass this.

Please either measure the diameter of the pebbles or better still provide a photo with a ruler so we can see the texture and size of this gravel.

Normally, gravel an eighth of an inch isn't going to be a problem. But shape may be. Is it smooth or very sharp and irregular?

If it's large and sharp, raw egg white may help. If it's large and round, an Epsom salts flush over three days tubed into the crop may be the way to go.

Your hen meanwhile is probably suffering from starvation. Give her a cup of water with one teaspoon sugar to bring her glucose back up.
