Have you seen this video?

Charlie says that around 6-7 weeks the vent area of a female is larger as it gets ready to make space for eggs.
The 25 day old tuxedo I got today has red vent feathers although I’m not sure if all male tuxedos do.

Yes, i have seen the video but I don't think I would notice the vent area getting larger. And still no red vent feathers. if I had to guess I think she's a female.

The red vent feathers in tuxedos can be a bit tricky to see if their whole belly is white. If it's a male you may see some red or blue feathers at the edge where the colored feathers meet the white ones, as seen in the male in the pic.

If there's no sign of red/blue feathers I would say that you'd have to wait for an egg or try to figure out the sex by behaviour/noise.

Hi, so I hatched some button quail a few weeks ago so can anyone help me identify what color/ mutation they are? And possibly the gender of them. Any help is appreciated.

Well, as a chicken farmer, I can say that those are indeed quails…………… if I remember correctly, dark brown is called “Rosetta”, and Golden Italian is white with yellow ish markings on the breast. That’s all I know though, I ended up selling my quail because they didn’t act like I thought they would and I wasn’t prepared to be a quail owner.

Im afraid your talking about coturnix quail mine are button quail.

How old is your tuxedo now?

About 7 1/2 weeks old is checked her agian and there's not a hint of blue or red feathers anywhere.
