Help...is this a frazzle?

I bought some chicks from Atwoods and one started to curl out. As I've read more into this (fairly new to the chicken world), I'm worried it may be a frazzle. Could anyone help me identify this sweet guy and if it is a frazzle, any tips for care? I see quite a but of bare spots. Wasnt sure if it may fill in as he grows or not??

It certainly could be. You may have to wait a bit longer and see how it feathers. A frazzle will be more sparse and over curly.

I have one that looks similar! I’ve been told he’s a black Cochin frazzle. He also has bare spots. I can see them slowly filling in.

So far, I haven’t made any solid plans. I’ve noticed he’s a terrible flyer so I am very wary of him ever being free ranged. I am also going to build a lower roost bar for him in the run area since the one that’s built in is a few feet up.

I am concerned about him getting cold or wet with those crazy feathers. Since I live down south, the cold isn’t as big of a deal but he may still get brought inside on really cold nights even after he’s moved outside completely. I’m holding out on moving them out of the brooder until he and a silkie feather up some more. Everyone else is ready!

Looks kinda like a frizzle that got frazzled.

frazzles happen when two frizzles are bred together (a big NO NO!) Frazzles generally have very brittle feathers that will break off.
