Thoughts on what I’m feeding my chicks?

Got this for my baby chicks because it’s what they had them on at the store. Any thoughts on this brand?

Also I was curious if their laying feed ingredients look good or if anyone has thoughts on it? Here’s a picture of what’s in the laying feed.

New chicken mama and I’ve heard organic is good but this is what brand they were on so I stuck to it.

Open to suggestions!

I’m a bit confused, because the front of the bag says “Chick Starter Mix”, but the nutrition label says “16% Egg Layer Crumbles” with the high calcium numbers I would expect to see in feed for laying hens.

Or you’re asking about two different products?

No reason to feed organic if you don't want organic (organic-ish?) eggs. I try to eat as much organic as possible so I don't mind the extra expense.

The layer seems fine? Main gripe with layer feed on here is it tends to be lower in protein (most layer is around 16%).

Yes I am asking about two different products, sorry for the confusion! I am starting them on the chick feed and then the same brand has this layer feed that I took a picture of the nutrition label before I left the store. I was wondering if this brand’s seems up to par with other layer feeds or if I should switch them off :)

Oh okay! So this one is 16%, are you saying that people tend to go for higher protein options?

My main goal is that I want to get whatever helps these girls live the longest healthiest lives :) I got my chickens with a having them for pets mindset with the bonus of eggs LOL

If the one that’s in the same brand as their chick feed seems suitable I’ll stick with it! But if there’s something lacking I’d love to invest in a better option :)

If possible. More protein can help with feather growth and may help deter feather picking, plus chickens seem to prefer higher protein feeds. 18-20% seems to be the general recommendation as far as protein.

Instead of layer you can feed all flock or unmedicated starter or grower for life - you'll need to supplement calcium on the side but those above feeds usually have higher protein.

Thank you! I think that’s what I’ll do! I’ll look into their all flock feed and compare it to their unmediated starter/grower! And supplement some oyster shells! :)
