Help me ID my colored egg layers!

What a cute bunch of ladies. Definitely in need of a Harry or Ron someday.

I think Hermione and Luna are starlight Green Eggers. Helga could be an Olive Egger or another Starlight Green Egger. The rest of the crew looks like standard Easter Eggers.

Do you have baby pictures of them? I got a very similar assortment by “happy accident” (ordered something else) last month. 3 chicks with single combs and yellow legs, 7 with pea combs, muffs/beards, green legs.

I’ve spent the last 4 weeks pouring over pictures of Hoover’s colored egg layers all over the internet. Just for fun trying to guess what they’ll grow out to look like. The variety in their lines makes that impossible but I still enjoy trying.

I do have baby pics! I can't tell you who is who, except that Luna was always all buff with the whitest tail, Bellatrix was almost all black, Hermione was the "redder" one with yellow legs and Helga was always the biggest. The rest looked like little chipmunks, with varying degrees of orange and grey.

All breeds listed except for Marans (which you didn't get) are all mixed breeds and have a good deal of variance within their breeding.

Helga and Hermoine look like Starlight Green Eggers. Luna also looks like a Green Egger. The rest are EEs. In the end, only Helga, Hermione, and Luna's egg color will tell you what they are.

Thank you! Those are very helpful. I look forward do pouring over them on my laptop.

From my assortment I’ve identified 2 Olive eggers, 1 Midnight Majesty Marans. That leaves 7 likely Easter Eggers. They have names and I’m getting to know their personalities. I’m enjoying this assortment much more than I would have guessed.

It’s interesting how much the colors differ as the adult feathers start to come in. When they looked so similar as brown chipmunk chicks. They’re the buff, black, and partridge (might not be the right name) ones in these pictures. The second picture reminds me of Minerva. She had that hawk-like look at that stage.

The one in front in the first pic reminds me of what Luna and Helga looked like as chicks, except their combs were more pronounced, I think.

I would love to see pics of the all gray (lavender?) one when she's grown! My favorite chickens (aesthetically) are Mrs. Weasley, Fleur and Dr. Robotnik, because I just love those gray/lavender feathers (esp with the red)!

I am also SUPER jealous of your Marans. I wanted Marans so bad and for a really funny reason... At the Orthodox church, we dye eggs red at Pascha (what the west calls Easter) and we like to use natural dyes. Last year, we used white and brown eggs and the brown eggs turned out so so so much better looking. I was hoping to get a Marans or two, at least, for those super dark brown eggs! I will be interested to see how the red dye comes out on the blue eggs though!! 😂

That one is a Silverudd’s Blue I hatched from some local eggs. Same age as the Hoover’s chicks. She’s gorgeous and very sweet in hand. AFA553AD-0394-4300-93C1-01BEF8F8C7C2.jpeg 29FDC120-7AD8-41D2-B23F-4192323CA748.jpeg

Awww, she's just beautiful! Mine like to walk up to me and peck at my boots, but they flee in terror the moment they see a hand come near them. Tonks will come up into the coop though, when I am out there and I open the door and she will sometimes let me pet her if she gets on the roost.

She the wildest bird we have right now. 🤣 It looks like she’s suppose to lay a terra contra colored egg. With it or without speckles.

Those dyed eggs sound beautiful. I’ll have to do some experimenting too next year.
