Help me understand what is happening 🤣

I’m stumped! I have a black rooster and my hens are white (silkie), wheaten (NN satin) and a very light splash (NN silkie)

All I’m hatching are what looks like black silkies Can someone explain what’s happening…. Pics of my babies and hens/roo

According to my current understanding, which is quite novice.. Black is dominant to Wheaton.. so black chicks are very likely.. possibly with some leakage as they get older.

White can iether be dominant or recessive.. If the hen is recessive then all chicks will be black. If the hen (or either bird) were dominant white.. then all chicks from that cross would be paint.

The splash hen should throw only blue chicks from that crossing.. and I do think some of those chicks are blue.. but very dark being confused with black.

I had blue (Silkie) hens that I thought were black until they were directly next to black ones and then the difference became noticeable.

Naked neck is a dominant gene you get a 50 /50 shot when you breed them to a regular chicken. Most chicks though will not be naked neck. Basically you’ve just not hatched any with the naked neck gene yet.

I cannot verify the accuracy of the following breeding chart (image from google).. But it may be helpful to you. My understanding is that NN is incomplete dominant. As stated in post #9, it's possible that none have hatched..

The one you're calling splash looks like a bowtie more than a full stripper. I didn't see any pics of the wheaten. Hopefully, someone with a clearer genetics understanding will (tag &) correct me if anything I've posted is inaccurate!
