I was looking through my flocks feathers tonight and noticed a bunch of mites (I think) on my PR butt. She’s been sick (old age) and poop is getting more stuck to her butt. But she has a bunch crawling all over her and I checked the rest of the flock I noticed another hen has a couple but once one has it they all do. Are the mites? I’ve never had an outbreak what do I do? Can they go onto humans? I’m going to clean out all the bedding tomorrow but is there soemthing I can spray? What do I do to help my chickens??

Thank you!! Can I bathe my chickens with Dawn dish soap? Also do I have to clean the run out? It’s just dirt how would I treat that?

I also have these. The spray bottle is to prevent them and then I have this dust. The label says it’s safe to be used on chickens as well. Tomorrow I’m going to go to tractor supply and get some more treatment options.

Poultry protector isn't going to work.
The dust will but make sure you dust all of the birds weekly and the coop weekly too for a few weeks.

The link I posted...it is labeled for use on chickens too.
Sprinkle the dust on the dirt too.

You can bathe chickens with soap but I would not. It can be very stressful for them and that stress can kill a sick bird.

Yes thank you!! I’m going to go out tomorrow and get everything. If I change the bedding do I have to keep changing it weekly?? Or if I clean and treat can I just leave the new bedding in? Maybe not have bedding in the coop for a little bit until the treatment starts to work okay?

Treat weekly...everything...bedding and birds for no less than three straight weeks. Do no skip a week. You have to break the life cycle and kill all the buds before they get to egg laying age.
