Hey everyone I’m not that new to keeping ducks but I’ve never had this happen normally I hatch my ducklings but this year we bought 2 from tractor supply because we had a baby who had to be taken away from the mama because she couldn’t take care of them and she is of course at the bottom of our pecking order (including with the chickens) so I bought a Pekin and one other duckling and they were all doing good until recently, the Peking’s legs are very swollen and she’s walking a little funny I’m going to post some pictures and let me know what you guys think it is/what I can do to fix it

What are you feeding? Can you get some human vitamin B complex and give 1/4 tablet daily crushed into some water? I will tag @Miss Lydia for some advice, and you can also post on the duck forum.

Duckling and goose starter grower(not medicated) and yeah I will have to pick it up from the store, should I separate her or just let her stay with her mates. They have access to food and fresh water at all times and they’re in a bin with straw and a heat lamp as needed because it’s very hot where I am and I don’t want to give them a heat stroke

What are you feeding her ? Do you add nutritional yeast or brewers yeast to the feed ?
Ducklings especially Pekin need a lot of extra niacin
You can purchase vitamin B complex or grab niacin tablets put 120mg in 1 gallon of water to mix
Make sure it’s no slow release or no flush
They come in 500mg so I just guessed what 120 would be as it’s powder in a capsule
Hope this helps
Good luck with the little one

This is the best info we have and gives you the choices on how to treat. But with your little one already having problems I'd go with the liquid B complex from TSC

Let your duckling have tub time so she can float and use her legs to gain strength we call it water therapy. Until her legs are doing much better I'd keep her from doing much as far as running around. That is where water therapy comes in becasue it takes the pressure off the legs but helps them to get the strength they need.
