Hi everyone! In need of some help/opinions. Saved a little chick that wasn’t looking too great from TSC. She wouldn’t open one eye and seems to maybe be a little discharge. Seems lost and spins in circles. She won’t eat or drink in her own no matter how many times I show it to her. She will walk all over the feeder, but won’t eat or drink. I have been syringe feeding her egg yolk and giving her nutridrench. Is there anything else anyone can recommend? She’s a strong little girl when I pick her up and will take from the syringe, but just seems lost when she is in the brooder. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can you get a video of her? Upload to youtube and provide a link.

Photos of the eye? A discharge? Can you tell if she can see?

Try vitamins. If you have Poultry Nutri-Drench give 2-3 drops twice a day.
When you have time, get some Vitamin E and B-Complex (found at WalMart, CVS) and give her direct dose of 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4 tablet B-Complex.

Hard to know what's happening with her. Shipping stress or getting injured during transit. Could be a development problem. Sometimes a chick fails to thrive.

Do the best you can with hydration and getting some nutrients into her. Hope she comes around.

Im sorry for you chick. I had a duck acting almost exactly the same and a few days later it died. So plenty of water. Try to get her to eat, Maybe different foods like small amounts of tuna. well wishes 4 ur chick.

Is there a way to test if the chick is blind?

Try slowly reaching out a finger to touch the bad eye. If its not blind then it might try to move out of the way. Hope this helps.
That's what I would do or see if the chick reacts to movements on one side or the other.

Then again, if suffering from neurological problems or just failing to thrive, likely the chick may not be able to focus or is disoriented. Hopefully with vitamins, improvement will be seen.
