HELP! Oral antibiotic administering for a difficult duck!!!

I would have thought your vet would have given you some.
if it's not far to go to the vet you might call and ask them if they will give you a couple.

What are you talking about? This is not true, ducks can have almost any veterinary or human antibiotic! Please be careful spreading misinformation like this.

@graypes, please do listen to your vet. If the duck was prescribed antibiotics for a respiratory infection you need to give the medication as you were instructed. Not giving it to them could cause death.

Just seeing. In every nation in the world, it is specifically regulated against giving ducks antibiotics. If you want to know why, research baytril and child death of a duck farmer worker's neighbor after the ducks were administered Batril in Southern California. That was in the early 90s and the last legal moment any antibiotic has been given to ducks without a government order, which takes longer to get than any bacteria to run its course.

Please do some research as ducks collect all bacteria adapting it to be their systemic workers internally. When scientists need a pure sample of a bacterium from an area, they find the duck flocks to procure that stored sample they have already picked up. Australia has the most relevant studies, as they did not believe the US findings, relying much more heavily upon duck farming. Those find the allergic to antibiotics is genetically coded in order to assist bacterial mutation.

Giving Mallard Type Ducks antibiotics will only do two things in the long run, kill the duck by killing its function workers or the bacteria becomes resistant where when that is harmful to other life is environmentally devastating and deadly.

Immediate reference, search each and every antibiotic in FARAD specifically to find the specific withdrawals of permissions and restrictions of use. Attorney Generals even have the option if someone dies you saying it is ok, you can be charged with Murder 21 though the normal for saying it is ok and costing a human life is manslaughter 1 and life without parole.

I’m at my wit’s end! I have 2 Runner Ducks (3mo old) and theyve got some sort of Respiratory bug that the vet prescribed oral antibiotics for!

PROBLEM IS, one of the ducks handled it okay, but i could tell some dribbled back out. The other one though..... bless her heart. I watched every bideo online 4x over and had her in position for 30 mins but she was squirming and REALLY stressed. I tried putting it in treats but i think shes too traumitized by that cherry flavored antibiotic and she spits the treats right out—even grapes (her favorite!)
I am losing my mind trying to get her to take the antibiotics (she’s the sicker of the two)

does anyone have any alternative methods for oral administration of liquid antibiotics??? or helpful tips?
ive got to give it to her 2x a day for 12 days

This is how I give my meds
I only put a little at a time on the tongue
I have done this many times and never had it go down the wrong spot as I don’t go in far
I let them swallow then go again
I have one duck who did 3 rounds of antibiotics totalling 4 weeks worth then they figured out it was fungal and she had 90 days at 4 times a day plus her medicam once a day
She is so use to meds that she no longer has to be held she just opens up for the syringe
I found this is my easiest way for o hold them while keeping control

I’m in Canada and I did not need government approval for this med
All I was asked is to throw her egg away for a certain amount of time
If you do not eat the duck or egg until the meds have passed through then there won’t be an issue
