It is called "egg-addling".That’s fascinating!!!
Mute Swans are protected by the State of NY, but they are also an invasive species. The Mute Swans are aggressive, kill other animals and damage the ecosystem. Their population must be kept under control....It is called "egg-addling".
I can tell you for sure that's not the case. I'm not a big fan of the cold and will not use air conditioning unless it's starting to feel hot in the house. And even with it warm in the house I've had them start while sitting out on the counter. Now I know they're not going to go all the way through and hatch. But I've had them start to make blood vessels and then end in a blood ring leaving them out on the counter at under 90°. And I collect daily. The embryo isn't developing at all unless it's almost 100F where the eggs are.
Thanks. Always leave mine on counter. Never had an issue. Frequently very hot in metal coop nest box areas and also in my house (no air con). Had a spike of days over 37 C. Correct rooster to hens ratio. Therefore maybe initial coop design and placement affects this, as well as other factors discussed. Sometimes I only colllect once. Second thought: if many hens are taking turns to lay in the same nest, my thoughts are that these eggs are going to get a lot of heat from each hen, one after another?Only if the room temp near the counter is 100°F.
