So we have two guinea pigs and today we walked in to check on water and one was laying in the corner with its legs out. It was doing fine today and now currently dying. It seems like it’s having seizures of some sort. The other one is doing fine and very active. It is in a create full of hay, just in case, the one dying contaminated the cage. Does anybody know what could’ve happened or if the other one will be OK? Here’s a picture of the one that seems to be doing all right.

Any help would be very, very appreciated!!! Thank you!

So sorry for your loss! Gosh that's sad. We had guinea pigs for years, many years ago and none ever had seizures so I looked it up and they are very rare to guinea pigs. It said a type of mite guinea pigs can get can cause seizures. Was the one that died losing hair anywhere on its body?

Are these new to you, or have you had them for a while?

I am not an expert but I had similar situation. 1 had some sort of seizures and died and the other 2 were fine. I did not separate them. the one that died was about 4 yo.

There was no hair loss. We have had them for about a year. The other one seems to be doing good.

Thank you for the reply’s! Sorry this is not about birds. I didn’t know that to when it happened.
