@ArmelChix how is your hen now ?Thank you.
Thank you for asking. She died. We tried everything. She was such a sweet bird.@ArmelChix how is your hen now ?
I'm sorry. It's hard to lose a chicken, and even more difficult when you try so hard to heal them.Thank you for asking. She died. We tried everything. She was such a sweet bird.
Thank you. I miss her. I didn't think I'd get so attached to birds as I've never owned a bird before. I still catch myself looking for her and the way she always came running up to me flapping her wings and jumping up to be held.I'm sorry. When my first two chickens died a week apart, I was also surprised at how bad I felt. They were more bonded to my partner than to me but I felt terribly sad and guilty.
I was very grateful to find people on social media and BYC that understood this. In my real life everyone would have thought I was crazy for grieving over chickens. It took me almost three months to really feel better. I had tea cups printed with their picture and I still think of them every day when I use them.
Now all my six first chickens have passed. It's not that it gets easier, but after a while you realise that keeping chickens means coping with their death, in whatever way is right for you. In time the nice memories of your hen will make you smile fondly.
