I have attached a picture of one of my chickens poo. She had the hormone implant done on Monday, it is now Thursday and today she has started behaving lethargic, depressed, not eating and her poos are a liquid consistency as shown in the photo. I can hear gurgling noises coming from her gizzard/abdomen region (sounds like a human stomach when someone is hungry). What could be wrong with her? Mind you, she went to the vet on Monday and the vet said she was healthy before putting implant in. The liquid poo only started today. She has been wormed very recent so can't be worms. She is just over one years old.

If anything is going on with digestion, including diarrhea, I give probiotics. We use Hydro-Hen most of the time. That might help with it but not sure about the lethargy. If you have Hydro-Hen, that's also got electrolytes in it, which are known to help with appetite.

What ended up happening with your hen? I just had the implant done a little over a week ago and I started noticing the last day or two my hen has started getting liquid poo as well. She is still eating and drinking but, just seems to be down a little. She is also starting to molt. I’m curious if the liquid poo is a side effect. She had completely normal poo prior to the implant.

You may want to use some probiotics, or feed a small amount of either cottage cheese or cooked rice with a little buttermilk or plain unsweetened yogurt. You can get those small cups for a dollar at the grocery.

I can do some cooked rice…I have them on probiotics already. White rice or whole grain brown rice?
