Hi,

I'm new to this forum, but have been reading tons of posts.

I ordered some marans eggs, and I bought a LG for incubation... I know... I read the BAD threads too late. It's still in the box, and it's going right back where it came from. If I want hard boiled eggs, I can put them in a pot.

Anyway, I've been doing tons of research and have been looking at Sportsmans. Does anyone have a Sportsman, and do you have good results with them?

Also, I'm confused about the models that say you can set multiple hatches by putting the ones that are ready to hatch in the bottom of the bator. How does this work with lockdown and raised humidity for the "about to hatchers"?

Thanks...Boggled by Bators!!!

Ya know I have heard good things and bad things about ALL bators. Give it a shot, ask for help from those who have the same model and adjust as needed.

I have a GQF cabinet 'bator... it's an older model of the "sportsman." I don't worry too much about humidity - just put a dish of water in the hatcher tray at hatch & out they come.
I got the cabinet 'bator as a gift. Before I had it, I hatched out all my eggs in a still air LG. Had some great hatches... not much trouble with it at all.

I want a cabinet incubator so badly - just not in the budget.

I have had luck with the forced air styrofoam 'bators. I hated the still air LG I started with! Oh, and turners...turners make the whole thing so much better!!

I'm using an old GQF 1202 -and it's been working pretty will. --I go into lock down on the 21st -but I'm thinking about moving the eggs out of the GQF and into a L G that I am adding a small fan to ---for hatching. My GQF doesn't have a window and I will go nuts not being able to see whats happining.
is this plan a decent one? or should I cut a hole in the GQF door and add a window? Your thoughts appreciated. This is my first attempt with a incubator.

I've got a 'sportsman' also an older model, 1502, with the multi turn electronic thermostat, love it , it replaced a GQF hova-bator my hatches wet up, I do not worry about humidity mine is around 50% always. as for the door I replaced it with the clear door was the best thing I ever did, its worth the price,
