I have a chicken with potential vent prolapse or a lash egg that is stuck..?? I have some clear pictures. But I need advice on what to do. In my 5 years of having chickens I’ve never dealt with this. Just need help identifying.
If it is vent prolapse it just looks too dirty to be pushed in and cannot get the gunk off.. if it’s a lash egg stuck, what now?

Is she passing any droppings? It could be just a prolapse with some darkened dried out mucus membrane, but I would soak her in warm soapy water or Epsom salts for about20 minutes. Clean the prolapse lightly with a cloth. You will need to feel for an egg, since egg binding can occur sometimes with a prolapse. Give a human calcium tablet or Tums orally to increase muscle tone. Keep the prolapse moist outside and in the vent opening at all times with honey, vaseline, or hydrocortisone cream (or similar.) Try to push it back inside periodically. I would soak her daily unless she is very weak to keep her bent clean. It can take days for the prolapse to go back inside.

She is passing droppings. She’s eating and drinking fine. But ok thank you. Good advice.
