Hi everyone. As you can see from the video, this pullet started making this weird noise this morning and also coughing or sneezing, I can’t really tell which. Happened overnight. She was fine yesterday and even ran around the yarn this morning. Two other pullets seem to be coughing or sneezing as well, also happened overnight. All are about 12 weeks old.

Does this look familiar to any of you? Is it serious? I’m worried my whole flock is going to die. :/

Have you added any new birds to the flock in the last couple of weeks? Is there any stress going on now? It sounds like some stridor and sneezing, and the last one may have some gasping. Sometimes we see stridor if a small piece of chicken feed gets stuck in the airway, and it may clear in a few hours. But it can also happen with a respiratory infection or disease with mucus plugs, irritation, and narrowed swollen airways. Look for any with a watery/bubbly eye, or swollen eyelids or faces. Tylosin or Denagard can be used in the water to treat mycoplasma (MG.) Tylosin is available from Jedds and dosage is 1 tsp per gallon of water, Viruses, such as infectious bronchitis will not respond. Have you heard about any outbreaks of respiratory chicken diseases in your area?

None of the above, as far as I can see. However, every few sneezes there would be some discharge, seems to be clear but hard to tell for sure.

The crop of the pullet in the first video is empty. I can’t feel it at all. The one in the second video is soft, puffy, and spongy, as if it is filled with fluid. Both of them have not eaten/drank since 7am. I just gave them some water right now using a syringe.

4:30pm update: I think they have gapeworm? Here’s another video I just took. https://vimeo.com/991081126?share=copy

It sounds almost exactly like the chicken in a video I found on YouTube.

What do you guys think?
