I have a six week old black and white crested polish chick that has stopped eating and drinking. She went from flying up and perching to greet me when I walked into our kitchen( we have our chicks inside untill they are six weeks to move outside into the coop) to now she isn’t eating or drinking and she seems really weak. She was doing this weird silent crow thing a couple weeks ago when I first brought her home but she was still eating and drinking( I’m gonna mention everything as we love her and I’m fairly new to this chicken thing and I want her taken care of) I’ve gotten nutridrench and given to her in a syringe. Ive rubbed her crop Incase she was backed up. She just has her feathers fluffed and sleeps she isn’t walking around. We don’t really have chicken vets around here and I’ve tried to reach out to the people we got her from but they haven’t responded. They are on purina medicate chick starter no other chicks are acting this way and I have separated her. One was sneezing randomly so I did put garlic and apple cider vinager in their water and that one stopped sneezing and I have continued with acv and garlic in their water just as prophylactic.

Oh wow, you sound just like me: chickens are in the house, no nearby vet and on Purina medicated crumbles(which I have to crush because they will not eat the big pieces) Do you notice your chicken's poo- is it normal or runny?

Try giving her some vitamins. These can be found in Tractor Supply.

Her poo doesn’t seem runny and okay I’ll go grab some of these after work. Should I continue to syringe feed her? I’ve read mix reviews on doing so.

Get some Corid right away and treat for possible coccidiosis. That is the most common disease in young chickens between 3 and 11 weeks old that causes puffing up and lethargy. What do the poops look like? Don’t delay treatment as it can proress fast. Corid will not harm her or the other chickens even if that is not the problem. Dosage is 2 tsp or 10 ml of liquid Corid per gallon of water for 5-7 days. You may give NutriDrench right up until starting treatment, but stop the ND while on Corid, then it can be resumed.

Corid liquid is a little cheaper than the powder. It is in the cattle medicines at most feed stores. Call ahead for availability.

How do I give it to her if she isn’t really drinking or eating? And how long before I see improvement? We are just so worried She is the family favorite( I hate to say that but she has just been the most personable and my kids and husband have fallen in love with her.)
