Hello. i'm looking into buying this coop and i'm not sure what run you guys use for this coop or coops of similar sizes. It is the New Age Pet ecoFLEX Fontana Chicken Barn, Jumbo and the dimensions are 54.1 x 46.3 x 40.1 inches.I plan to have 6 LF birds in it.

What size run is good for this coop? 8x8? Bigger? Smaller?

I hate to say it but that tiny little plastic box is not big enough for 6 LF chickens. It's big enough for maybe two if they got along great. And it doesn't have any ventilation to speak of, which is a huge flaw. Chickens need copious amounts of ventilation.

As for the run, the bigger the better and due to the extremely small size of that coop, having a solid roof and the entire run being predator-proof is going to be the only saving grace.

I would not plan on housing six full size birds and that coop for any significant length of time. You need a properly sized coop for your flock.

If that coop is too small, what would a better plastic coop be for 6 LF birds? I'm looking for a plastic coop since they are typically more durable and easier to clean

To your original question about the run most will tell you a minimum of 10 sq. ft. of run space per bird. I would agree with that, and say that you can never have too much.

Edit to add: As far as the coop space goes, most will tell you a minimum of 4 sq. ft. per bird which would be 24 sq. ft. total for 6 birds. So, the dimensions you mentioned are around 18 sq. ft. So, yes, that is tight. And, the same as the run in that you can never have too much space in my opinion, but you can have too little.

Edit again: So, 6 birds would be 6x10=60 sq. ft. You mentioned 8x8 which would be 64 sq. ft. so yes that should be adequate. But, again, bigger certainly will not hurt.

This is basically what I have (not the exact same one, but same brand) I got it for 100 bucks on Facebook marketplace. I love it. Just add nests and roosts and it’s good to go. Mine is 24 square feet, so it’s plenty big for 6. You, of course, have to have a larger run to put it in. And ventilation
