I went out to find my flock of 7 wk olds not looking so good this morning. Tail down, ruffled feathers, not eating. Then I picked one up and it was so thin and had poopy bottom. I am suspecting coccidiosis because of their behavior.

I have two antibiotics on hand, Denagard and Duramycn 10. I don't have easy access to Corrid with the exception that I can get medicated chick crumbles. So, which antibiotic should I use?????? Will feeding the medicated crumbles help??

TIA

I believe I have read somewhere where Denagard will treat it. I would prefer to use Corid or sulfadimethoxine, but let me do some looking for that link about denagard.

Thank you so much for your help. Hopefully I can start treatment with Denagard and then order some Corid.

One more question. My youngsters are in a separate pen inside my large regular coop. Are my older flock at risk and should I treat them? There are no signs of infection with them and they are my laying/breeding group so I would prefer not to treat if it isn't necessary. The rest of the coop is not exposed to their feeders, waterers or ground area.

What would you do with the rest of the flock?
