help with theme names

I knew some people that named a litter of puppies after famous blue jean labels, you could go with other groups of name brands or perfumes.

Sound alike names...I have three bantam buff Brahmas that all look alike that are Millie, Tillie and Lily. Most of the time I can't tell them apart and it doesn't much matter.

Cereal names - I have two splash Silkies, one named Marshmallow, the other Pebbles. (Like Marshmallow Pebbles)

Candy bar names - have a Silver Sebright named Peppermint Patty (actually Peepermint Patty - ha) and an EE named Snickers

And of course famous TV group names like the Golden Girls idea. I have (and I think a lot of others do, too) a couple of girls named Laverne and Shirley. Mine are Mille Fleur D'Uccles.

Hope you got some good ideas along the way.

We have names for no rhyme or reason. We have done themes such as I have the power puff girls, my BR's Blossom Buttercup and bubbles. We have Betty such as in Betty Boop she has 6 babies under her right now. But I also name for color or personality. We have 2 orpington mixes that are Sassy and Cinnamini.The babies I havent named yet except maybe the silkies. When I can tell their sex they may be Pebbles and BamBam. I dont let DH name them cause he always says boys names and thats what they end up being. I did have Miss Prissy once but she turned into Prince. And last but not least we have a BR rooster named Penguin. He was a runty little guy with a white belly and waddled like a penguin when he was little. He is still kinda chubby. Big drumsticks on that boy

I started with a theme but ended up with oddball names. Because one day I'll just look at a chicken and call her something like MAYZELL! And that's her name. One of my baby roos has a small comb and he's "Girly Man" - poor thing

Our first chicks we had all have Viking names. We will probably continue that with our new chicks this year.

Could go with great female singers if you're into music (and your girls will be singing!)

I like the idea of food names. My DD wants to call her chick (when we finally are able to get them) Cupcake. I think we will be going with things the need to be cooked with eggs!

I really like the alliteration in sheila3935's names. How about your favorite female performers as a theme? I briefly considered naming my hens after famous R&B vocalists (Aretha, Gladys and Big Maybelle) but my kids had other ideas.

If you have young children, you could name the hens after famous historical or literary figures/characters and add some learning to the experience. If you want to stump your friends with trivia, you could name all the chickens after characters played by one actress-of course, don't tell anyone which actress. It would be fun to see who catches on.

Last year, we named the pullets after our pet names for each other (Hunny, Cutie Pants, Pumpkin, etc). This year it's herbs & spices (Cayenne, paprika, cinnamon, ginseng, nettles, lavender), next year it'll be old lady names from our families (Clara, Elvina, gertrude, Maggie, etc). The exception was Roast, the meanestpullet ever. She lived up to her name, covered with Pomegranate syrup and with lemon & garlic stuffed inside. It was her tenderest moment...
