Gasping isn't a good sign, maybe a respiratory issue, I wonder if the bedding before the hemp caused it? Hum, NO it's cedar that's bad not that I think about it.I have not noticed any watery eyes or mucus. She pecks at her medicated food from time to time but her crop is empty so I know she must not be eating much. I syringe feed her egg yolk with a little warm water from time to time. She also gets hydro chick in her water.
She sounds wheezy and I can hear her gasp.
Maybe! I am in shock because my grandma's chicks LOVE it. I'm going to keep the brooder heat turned down. I was thinking maybe it's the heat but the other chicks are fine. I also keep a thermometer next to it and it's always around 95. I also raised up her brooder plate a couple days ago. I read green poop means infection but her poop was back to brown when I saw her poop yesterday and today. She drank a little bit of water today with the corid in it. I thought was a good sign since she had not been wanting to drink at all before. So I'm not sure why they won't eat the wet food. I'll keep trying!Sorry I just read that your chicks don't like wet food? WOW. maybe it's the medicated food??
That's what I thought at first. I have 9 chicks total including her. All of the others are doing fine. Although, she is the runt and was tiny when I got her.Gasping isn't a good sign, maybe a respiratory issue, I wonder if the bedding before the hemp caused the issue???
if it's back to brown that's a good sign, I would say she may have gotten overheated and now her temp is back to normal.. But the gasping and wheezing. I wouldn't be so concerned about the wheezing cause I have had a few chicks that did this, they also made a popping noise and came out of it OK. The gasping means she can't get enough air into her lungs that shes struggling..Maybe! I am in shock because my grandma's chicks LOVE it. I'm going to keep the brooder heat turned down. When I did the wet food I would act like a momma, OMG this is embarrassing, but I would take my finger and tap the food and make the clucking noise like a momma hen would to get them started. LOL if you can get one to try it, the rest will copy.Maybe! I am in shock because my grandma's chicks LOVE it. I'm going to keep the brooder heat turned down. I wouldn't call it bright green. More like a hunter green color. This says cocidiosis. But it's back to brown now.Bright green poo can also indicate starvation.
well you can't compare one with the others, you will always have the "odd ball" one out of the group. Where did you get these guys? That's what I thought at first. I have 9 chicks total including her. All of the others are doing fine. Although, she is the runt and was tiny when I got her.
was that the color? The Cocidiosis??I wouldn't call it bright green. More like a hunter green color. This says cocidiosis. But it's back to brown now.
Yes! She loves to sit on my shoulder and I heard a little popping from time to time. But the neck stretching and gasping, why do you think she's doing that? And not eating/drinking? Too hot?if it's back to brown that's a good sign, I would say she may have gotten overheated and now her temp is back to normal.. But the gasping and wheezing.
