Hen comb won't stop bleeding after several hours

Does that mean her comb is smaller now? Since I think you were worried about the size of her comb, that might be a blessing in disguise, assuming it is able to heal up without infection or other trouble.
Yes! It looks like about a third of it was taken off. Worried the other hens heard us discussing it and took matters into their own hands...wings? 😳😅

I would allow the wound to dry up, and form a scab. Then wound heals under scab. Few days, and scab will fall off on its own.
I would just keep some clean gauze over wound to keep dirt out. Overapplying the Vetericyn keeps wound wet, and prevents scab from forming.
I wasn't sure if bandaging it would be a viable option, so we haven't tried yet. Will see if I can get my husband to wrap her up when we're off work!

Combs can bleed quite badly. Last year I had a hen that got her comb notched during a hawk attack. I didn't even know she'd gotten hit until hours later she walked up to me sneezing and acting otherwise normal even though she looked an awful bloody mess. Her small comb had swollen to double its size and she was sneezing from the blood running into her nostrils.

I cleaned her up as best I could and the bleeding seemed to stop. Nobody was picking on her so I let her roost for the night like normal. Turned out I was wrong about the bleeding and she oozed out a pretty good-sized patch of blood while she was sleeping. She was a little groggy that morning but over the next 24 hours perked up and other than looking beat up she seemed fine.

It took a while for the swelling to go down but the old biddy is still here and you almost can tell she was injured these days.
