Timeline of events:
April 8 - egg yolk landed on the roost board overnight
April 9 - my hen was hiding by herself all day
April 10 - I noticed my hen did not leave the roost this morning, and a broken egg shell was stuck in her partly prolapsed vent. I removed the shell and the prolapse went back in. I gave her 630mg calcium citrate and put her in a crate.
April 11 - Hen is not eating. Hunched up with eyes closed. I gave her .25mL 10% enrofloxacin, .3mL meloxicam, another 630mg calcium citrate (not at the same time as the antibiotics)
April 12 - Not eating or drinking. Hunched up with eyes closed. Tubed 30 mL fluids + .25mL enrofloxacin in the am. Tubed 30 mL Kaytee in the afternoon. Did not give calcium citrate because her crop was still full by the evening.

She is 7 years old. She started laying very thin shell eggs this year. No laying problems before, she was always broody. Any ideas what to do? Is it just the end of her time? :hit

She could be dealing with a calcium deficiency, infection, or internal issues (egg binding). Keep giving fluids and food. If she doesn’t improve soon, call your vet to check for infections or others.

She may have some problem with her oviduct or shell gland. Salpingitis could be possible. Hopefully, she will stop laying, but the shell-less eggs can be harder to pass, and egg binding may be a problem. Is her crop feeling firm and full? If so, you might want to give her 1-2 tsp of chilled coconut oil cut into small chunks, or some mineral oil or 2 stool softeners. Then massage her crop several times a day. Do not massage the crop if it is liquidy. I would go ahead and give the calcium or get some liquid calcium gluconate at the feed store and use that. Recheck the crop in early morning to see if it is emptying.

Crop was empty in the morning. Tubed 30 mL fluids + 630mg calcium citrate. Waited 2 hours, then tubed 30mL fluids + antibiotics + meloxicam.

How much calcium and for how long? she is not eating or drinking so I don't want to overdo it. should i continue antibiotics, meloxicam?

I just noticed that her urates have trace amounts of pink blood. I forgot to mention already treated her with Toltrazuril on April 10. Could the blood be from kidney damage?
