Hen not eating. New to the flock. De-beaked.

Also, I did do a thorough lice/mite check last night. She has no runny nose or sneezy sounds. No eye/nose drainage or smell. I haven't witnessed a poop yet so I will check the pen when I get home to see. I placed antibiotics in their water when I got them and again in her water in the isolation. Should I worm her now since she isn't feeling well or wait a day or two? My husband is in the process of building a new coop with a extra "room' for this very thing so I am excited to have a transition area for new birds for the future. I sure hope I didn't mess up too bad by integrating them all. We've only had chickens for about a year and I am learning new things everyday. Thank you again

I actually would not use any part of the coop for a quarantine area. Raising new chicks, sure, but not to quarntine new, adult birds. New birds need to be quarantined well away from your exitsting flock since many diseases are spread in the air, on hands, shoes and clothing. It's best to keep them well away, in another building, such as a garage. Always care for the new birds last so you aren't tracking anything out to your existing coop/flock and wear different shoes out to the coop. It sounds like a hassle and it is, but the potential for bringing home diseases is high when you bring home new adult birds, and once you have something nasty in your flock it's pretty much there to stay unless you get rid of all the birds, so even more of a hassle then quarantine! We've been down that road before and it's the reason I will no longer bring in any new, adult birds, only day old chicks from hatcheries.

That makes sense and I even knew that they should be quarantined, but i lapsed my judgement because they appeared so healthy. The hen is eating today but she appears to still be breathing heavy. No weazing or anything. I just notice her body and bottom is sort of slowly heaving in and out. Almost like she is trying to push, but she has no other egg bound symptoms. I am attaching a poo picture.

I have added some wormer to her water just in case.
