Hen or roo? Easter egger barred rock cross

It's a little young for the male specific saddle feathering. Reddish wing patches are typical of cockerels.
Yes. Agreed I just noticed this difference and was wondering. Also I heard that males can sometimes start crowing at 8 weeks. I'm surprised the OP said no crowing. I guess he's a quiet cockerel.

Did the seller by any chance tell you which parent was which? (EE father, BR mother, or other way around.) I’ve not seen too many barred EEs, so if the father was the EE, then it’s (most likely) a sex linked cross, and you won’t get any barred females from that.
Sex links are from barred hens crossed with not barred roos. Males only get barring. If the Father was (double) barred both pullets and cockerels will be single barred.

Your boy has pointy saddle feathers. I don't see them on the chicken in question.
I wasn’t talking about figuring out the gender, more the breed. I was pointing out the barring, gold, comb, muffs, and feet color. Which they both have in common

Thank-you very much for all the inputs. I contacted the seller and luckily he let me come exchange it for a different chicken. Hopefully this one is a hen.
