Breed is silkie doesn’t have a walnut comb, i was told it was a rooster but haven’t seen it crow and when i touched its back it got low to the ground. if its a hen is this comb acceptable in silkies? And will its offspring with a walnut comb rooster correct make any chicks have a walnut comb? Added a few more pictures of different angles of the comb is this comb still considered a form of a walnut comb just not as close to the head?

How old is the bird in question?
Honestly not sure exact i believe she said 8 months - a year when i got them a month ago the other white ones i got at the exact same time with this one have been laying eggs not exactly sure if this ones laying i assumed it was a rooster since that’s what she said it was but now im questioning

Hello! It does look like a rooster to me. The comb in my profile picture is an acceptable silkie rooster comb. Your bird's comb looks tall and long to me. If it is a hen, its not acceptable. If its a rooster, it is also not acceptable. *this is off standard of perfection* If Im thinking rooster because of its tail feathers! The leg feathers are also a little space.

That will help you with your standard questions!

This is also a picture of a good feathered leg and feet!
My idea of good toe placement on an... - Mill Farm Silkies ...

Hi,

Since it's not a pure silkie the indicative walnut comb isn't there, making it a little tougher.

No hackles though, so I'll vote pullet. Since it's 8 months old it's nearly an adult, and if that was a rooster, it sure would look more like a rooster. It's tail is going up though. Hmm! It's harder for me when they aren't purebred silkies.

I do not take stock in sexing by whether they squat though when petted as I've had roosters do that, and have a 4 mo. old cockerel that's been doing that.
