ht it was s
Last night it was soft, almost liquidy yet firm.
This morning went to get a better feel and she pooped a large splash when I barely squeezed.
I couldn't see anything in throat or airway.
I did give calcium+ last night. Dewormed this morning.
Maybe egg bound further up in system and it's pushing on innards.
Sounds like she's improving on her own.Update from kids: they added crushed calcium and half bcomplex to watery mash and she ate quite a bit. She's not as loudly raspy like last night, have to get closer to her.
I'm glad she's doing better and is now back outside.Eating and drinking on own, was walking around wanting back outside to we took her, no more raspy. She ate oyster shell, drank and ate and then snuggled up between buddies in the coop.
After the last month, I'm more than happy with outcome so far lol obviously we'll watch her, and tomorrow we'll give her another calcium.
Before this winter/molt she laid x large eggs, so maybe there were/are some issues.
I'm not sure how much you could give daily without it becoming excessive. Usually the "extra" is only given for a short period of time to help a hen through crisis.So... She started in again last night with the heavy breathing. Popped her a calcium tablet and massaged her bottom. This morning she's moving around, no panting, acting as is.
Now, she is one of ours that lays larger eggs. I do know the calcium+ tablets are generally given for five days. Yes, we have two containers of oyster shell and one that we add crushed egg shells too just to give them variety. Is it such a thing to give her calcium tablets, or half's or something extra daily?
They are on a quality mill feed- 20% protein "chick feed" as in no extra calcium than what is normal. Been using same feed for over a year now. Have a rooster and almosShe is t always have chicks in some form. our biggest one now(was our second biggest). Just trying not to lose another one to reproductive issues. Thanks for any suggestions.
