Hello. I recently came to visit my family and noticed on of the hens had a ball shaped lump on one of her waddles. I think it might just be some puss from a injury since her waddle is abnormally long; it could have gotten snagged on something or pecked. However, I took some photos in case it's a symptom of something. Her behavior is normal so I don't think she's got fowl pox. I can take better quality photos if needed. Also, the missing feathers are just from her molting. If the lump looks like a problem, please let me know so I can treat it. Thanks!

I can't really see anything, but I see the elongated wattle. She's cute!

It could be scar tissue from like you said, getting it caught on something or pecked, but the puss is concerning. Do you see the puss coming from a scratch or anything? If you find an injury, you could put some Neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment on it. If she gets more of those, then it could be something else. Hopefully, it's just from a small wound that will diminish.

I think I jumped the gun when I said pus. There's swelling, but nothing specifically pointing to pus being the cause. After picking her up and examining her there's nothing leaking nor is there any visible cut or wound on either side of the waddle. The lump feels soft but not squishy and is the same temperature as the skin around it.
I think it's probably nothing to worry about. Thanks for the reply!

It seems ok to me, doesnt look like an open wound or anything. If its not bothering her or hurting her you should just leave it alone. If it is some sort of infection keep it very clean and apply and ointment.

From your description though, its just a mass of scar tissue or other tissues from the waddle.
