Hen with bright green poop

When a chicken eats during the day until evening, the crop should feel empty and flat by morning/daylight. If it is full and firm or puffy then it may be slow or not working well. If her crop is still puffy this am before she eats or drinks, smell her breath, since she could have sour crop. If it is sour or has a bad odor, I would get some Monistat or miconazole cream, and treat for sour crop. Here is a good article on crop disorders:

I have been thinking about the next steps. If she does get better do I put her back in her pen with the flock? If it is something infectious that entire run and her flock mates have it too? I ask because I have two separate coops and tins but they are right next to each other. So I do have a group of birds that haven’t directly been exposed to her. Would it be best to cull or would I have to cull that entire pen since she was in with that group. I can’t afford to lose all my big egg laying girls.🙁

She really doesn’t sound like she has anything infectious that would affect your other birds. She has been a part of the flock for awhile hasn’t she? I would put her back with her flock as soon as possible. The longer she is separate, the harder it would be to accept her back. Just ease her back when she is able, and supervise the behavior so that she is not getting pecked or chased. Keep at least 2 locations of food and water.

I have had her since February along with her brooder mate. Got them as day old chicks. I knew I wanted to get more so I expanded and they have been in their own coop and run until I added these other young pullets with them a couple weeks ago. Then I have a separate coop next to them with my egg laying girls.
I have no clue what she is sick with which is what worries me. Google scared me with marks but except for green diarrhea she has none of those signs and so far no actual respiratory issues either so I do see what you mean about possibly not really being infectious. I just worry 🤦🏼‍♀️

Green poop just can mean that she is not eating enough. Let us know how she gets along.
I keep trying to remind myself that!
I’ll definitely keep you updated. Thank you for the help!
This morning she looked like she was breathing heavy and had her mouth open and eyes closed. So I thought she was going downhill BUT now she seems to be pretty alert with no mouth breathing this afternoon. And she left this little treasure. It’s watery but more tan than green I’d say!

Unfortunately she passed away this afternoon.🙁 She had some heavy breathing with her beak partially open but no raspy sounds or discharge that I ever saw. I’m honestly still stumped on what took her. Maybe just stress. Guess I won’t know. Thank you, again.
