Hen with white discharge

Haunted, did you treat your hen orally with the Nystatin?
Tried the AVC and probiotics first, slowed it down but didn't go away. Then went to the nystatin and it didn't touch it and everything returned to what it was like before the ACV and probiotics. That's why I'm going with the copper sulfate.

Duh! I had also used the nystatin ointment I had on her vent. I was never able to find the gentian violet oral. All I could get was the 2% with isopropyl base. Didn't think that would work too well.

Oh! I might know a trick on this one. We just had a round of vent gleet at my place (I didn't think to give them acv during their antibiotic.... I do it with me, why wouldn't a chicken get a yeast infection....). Anyways, this is what my mother taught me to do and it has always worked. Not only add acv to your diet but rinse with it as well (not douche, rinse HUGE difference). It burns but it helps.

If after 1 week of treating daily like that, you are still having symptoms, a baking soda rinse, and add baking soda each morning instead of vinegar. My friend (and seriously this is a friend not me) had one that was stubborn and she fought it for a month. I told her instead of acidifying try going the other way and see if that helps. Within a week she was feeling more comfortable.

Good advice for the outside! I never would have tought to 'buffer' the acid of the yeast with the baking soda. Trouble with the darned Gleet is it usually starts in their mouth and crop and I'm not sure baking soda should be given internally in poultry. High sodium and not sure what the fiz would do to their crop and gizzard.

I am thankful that my chickens were cured with the acv.

That baking soda trick has been passed down in our family for ages. I wasn't sure if chickens could burp either. The sodium alone would cause trouble but the fizzing, I would think it would pop a crop or gizzard.
