hihi sorry but we got this chicken i wanna say like two weeks ago? from a guy that raises chickens, we're not sure what exact breed she is or how old or even her weight, she does seem to be on the pretty young end and she is smaller and lighter than other chickens. we have 4 chickens and no roosters by the way and they roam in our from yard with plenty of space! this is the first time my family is raising chickens except for my grandpa who had them when he was a kid to teen
anyways since we got her she hadnt laid any eggs, and we thought that was weird but maybe she was getting used to the environment or maybe the weird weather was affecting her mood. until this morning (9 am ish near 10) when my grandpa saw she couldn't walk. he took her out of the make shift coop we have (it's hard to explain but until we get a proper we have kinda this small house big enough for the four with straw/hay and next to it is a spot where they lay their eggs). he took her out and about half an hour later we saw that she was laying her first egg but it was too large so it got stuck. she wasnt bleeding, just in pain.
I wasn't here for the next part and i asked for details to make the post but they were able to get the egg out and it was still connected to the sack, according to them the sack broke and they had to take it out. after which she kinda loafed and started to sleep.
so far it's been like 8 hours and she seems okay, just weak. she eats (we have like this like feed we put with the food to restore and give them calcium) and drinks and sometimes she stands up (albeit shakily) to walk a bit before sitting down and sleeping
we can't afford a vet right now so we're hoping we can treat it ourselves. my family and I are just worried that we might've done something wrong and if she'll be okay or even able to still lay eggs. they tried what they could and we check up on her ever half hour. Her poop seems normal and there seems to be no blood.
I can ask my family for pictures they might've taken and post them here if needed, i know my mom has a picture of the egg when it was stuck.
please if you have an idea or what we can do to help that would be a life saver.
im so sorry if this is incoherent or something i just had a midterm exam and ontop of all of this im just worried, so sorry again and thank you.
