My hen's eye has been closed this past week & we've been treating her with Terramycin & Saline water in her eye.

Only the right eye is closed & she only opens it when I pick her up, managed to get a picture of it.

Left eye is perfectly fine. She's doing this weird jerking in her head which I'm sure is due the eye :(

We've been keeping her inside for the week treating her & just took her outside to the dust bathing area to see how she reacts & you can see in the vid how much it's bothering her.

Any advice? Any idea what this infection is? We don't want to lose her :(

Has she been showing any other signs of being sick? Have you checked closer to see if there is anything stuck in her eye?

She was feeling sick the day we noticed it, but after few days of treating her with antibiotics, vetrx, rooster booster, she's eating and being normal. Just her eye is bothering her now. There was nothing in the eye that I could see

I'd suggest getting some Silver Shield to rinse her eye with. It's more expensive than what you'll find at the farm store, but it's gonna be more powerful than anything you'll find there also. And once your chicken is done with it, your family can take it. https://www.naturessunshine.com/product/silver-shield-w-aqua-sol-20-ppm/

I'd suggest rinsing her eye with it a few times a day and then giving her a teaspoon of it in some water a day. It's flavorless and has no odor. My brother used it in his own eye when he got some metal stuck in it. He said it worked great, that along with clearing the infection in his eye it also cleaned out his sinuses.

Could I use this one instead? Seems to be the same thing but cheaper

Colloidal Silver Liquid 20 PPM - 4 Fl OZ (Plata Coloidal with Dropper) 99.9% Pure, Manufactured in The USA, Gluten Free, Non-GMO by Double Wood Supplements https://a.co/d/irIUDNz

You could, but since it is so much cheaper, and it's coming from Amazon, it's probably not as high quality. You may be gettong something that's more diluted.

Thanks for the reply, think I will go with the one you linked then. Do you think it will actually help with a chicken's eye though? I'm glad to hear it helped your brother's eye! But it's a little expensive so I want to make sure you think it will really help before buying :)

Yes, I do! It'll help kill any infection that is in her eye! And giving it to her internally will also help build up her immune and also aid in killing thr infection. I've used a Silver gel in the past when my chickens have bumble foot and it works wonderfully! And like I said before, it's also really good to give your family when you start to get sick!

Thank you for the reply. Tried pretty much everything and I'm hoping this works. Btw when you say flush few times a day, how much should mL should I be putting in the dropper syringe when flushing her eye?

I would just do enough to squirt the liquid over her eye a couple of times. I can't give you exact measurements, sorry.
