(1) Are you new to chickens / when do you plan on getting your first chicken? Yes, I’m new. Wanted them for years but never took that last step until this year….i am finally getting chicks. So excited!

(2) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Just enjoying them, eggs, pest control, every aspect.

(3) What are some of your other hobbies?
I’m a crafter. I make ALOT of my stuff homemade. Pictures, signs, knickknacks, candles, pillows, quilts, and anything else I may need there’s a lot, lol. Baking and Cooking, I’m learning to can & make my own bread.

(4) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’m a homemaker. I’m married to an amazing husband for 25 years we have four beautiful kids, three boys: a 20-year-old, 19-year-old, 15-year-old and our 13-year-old is our only girl. We have three dogs, two inside cats and three outside cats. We love all of our fur babies so much. Hopefully in the near future, we can buy a farm out in the country and get goats, sheep, pigs, cows, a lot more chickens & as many farm animals as we can fit so I can begin my homesteading dream.

(5) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D. I was researching chickens and just came across it tonight. And I’m very thankful I did.

I ran into BYC very similarly as you. Was searching Google,, for a chicken related question,,, and you guessed it. The answer was in a BYC post.

Sounds like you're well on your way to achieving your "homesteading dream" with your skills. I know of few things more satisfying them baking your own bread -- unless it's just inhaling the aroma of a fresh-out-of-the-oven loaf!

Congrats on finding this amazing community of folks who are always willing and able to help -- to cheer your successes and guide you through challenges.

Let us know when you get your chicks, please. Welcome to our BYC flock!
