Hey all!

Hope you are well! I am Maria and I am a backyard chicken enthusiast! I love my chickens and have been raising them for over 8 years! I have had many ups and downs and lots of fun and some grief! My chickens are strictly pets with the great advantage of egg laying! I have 14 ladies breeds including: Olive egger, Blue splash marans, black copper marans, cochin bantam, 4 barbu duccles, a buff brahma, a breed called an alchemist blue and an alchemist egger(looks like a drizzle mix) and a german bielefelder! Today I had to rehome a rooster who was my best bud and my cream legbar. 2 weeks ago I had to rehome 3 other roosters. I am having a hard time with, because they were the sweetest guys! More on that in another post! Thanks fo reading!

Hiya, Maria, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I think most of us know how hard it is to rehome our roosters. I've cuddled them before handing them over with tears in my eyes. Some have sent updates or a picture and I'm so happy for them that they got great homes with their own hens.

Of course, there's always the chance some wound up in the slow cooker, but I just like to think that never happens. :old

Welcome. I am sorry you have to give up your roosters. My roosters are my best buds as well.

I have a few too many roosters right now and it gives me anxiety trying to figure out who to keep and who goes. I just like them all so far. I hope your fears are settled and verified that they went to a good home. Don't blame yourself either if you find out that's not the case--it's not your fault and you gave them a wonderful home while they were in your care.

Thanks for joining! It's nice to have you here and welcome to BackYard Chickens!
